Hey!
I hope summer is treating everyone well with plenty of time by the pool, on the golf course or just with friends. As summer is underway so are my duties as the NIRSA Region V Student Representative. Thanks again for all of your support.
I've created this blog to keep you, the students of Region V, in touch with NIRSA events, scholarships, awards and other programs offered. But I also plan to use it for humor and updates about my GA position. Let's be honest, when officials aren't officiating and workers aren't working- it gets rough. Please feel free to contact me about information that you would like posted on the blog, as it is here to serve you.
The Student Leadership Team met in Corvallis, Oregon June 18-21 to set some goals for the upcoming year. (ohh and if you haven't noticed our SLT is quite old, we know, we think it gives us character. no?? We feel the need to implement new and better communication standards among student members. We are dedicating our terms to helping student members and non-members see the value in belonging to NIRSA. There is a list on the right hand side of the blog of special events within our region. I hope get a chance to attend some of the conferences and workshops within our region.
And last but not least, I would like to thank the students who have stepped up to be State Representatives.
Minnesota: Katy Winter & Kristina Hefty
Iowa: Jay Swanson
Colorado: AmberLynn Dark
Nebraska: John Race
Let me know if you are interested in becoming a State Rep or a Campus Contact! It's a great opportunity to meet the professionals within NIRSA and to connect to those outside of your school staff. I will be contacting the State Rep's shortly on planning the Student Lead On.
Enjoy the rest of summer!
-Anna
